Prof. dr. Peter van de Kerkhof
Current understanding of the modulation of the immune response has permitted
the development of pathogenesis based treatments for psoriasis.
The research line is focused on
(i) a better understanding of the immune system in psoriasis
(ii) characterization of efficacy and safety of innovative treatments for this
disease
(iii) correlation of the clinical characteristics with the parameters for the changes
in the immune system.
For the next 3 years the following targets have been defined:
‐ the role of regulatory T cells and host defense proteins during early and late
phases of the pathogenesis of psoriasis
‐ the efficacy and safety aspects of anti TNF treatments, anti IL‐12/23 treatments
and anti ‐IL17 treatments
‐ the value of characteristics of Treg and host defense proteins as biomarkers
